Nigerian designer Oluwatosin Afolabi, who has built a career spanning television branding, advertising and digital design, has revealed how he is combining creative expertise, business knowledge and emerging technologies to expand his professional footprint in the United Kingdom.
Afolabi, who began his career in Nigeria, has transitioned from producing visual content for television and commercial campaigns to exploring how artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics and digital tools can improve creative production and business performance.
His journey into the creative industry began with an interest in graphic and web design, which eventually developed into professional experience across television branding, commercial advertising, motion graphics and marketing communications.
Between 2018 and 2020, he worked with G-Arena, contributing to advertising campaigns and delivering more than 50 video advertisements and motion graphics projects. During the same period, he produced over 100 branding and marketing assets.
Seeking to broaden his professional knowledge, Afolabi moved to the United Kingdom in 2023 to pursue postgraduate studies at the University of Plymouth. He completed a Master’s degree in Business and Management in 2024, combining his creative background with a deeper understanding of business strategy and organisational performance.
He later worked at Maverrik, where he handled digital design, branding, and website development. One of his website redesign projects reportedly recorded a 20 per cent increase in organic traffic and a 15 per cent improvement in conversions over 12 months.
According to his account, the results stemmed from improvements in website structure, user experience, and calls to action, reflecting his approach to linking design decisions to measurable business outcomes.
Afolabi also contributed branding and marketing materials for Afiverse’s ELEVATE Summit, a performance marketing event attended by more than 500 people. In December 2025, he received an award in recognition of his contributions, although the award name and awarding organisation were not provided.
He currently works as a Creative Content Designer at Sport Cards Direct, where he develops visual content and graphics for the sports trading card and collectables market.
Beyond his professional engagements, Afolabi has built an Instagram audience of more than 15,000 followers through his design work. He has also provided creative services to organisations and brands, including Rawwest Media, Urban Art Gallery and Childhoodlost.
His current professional interests centre on the intersection of design and technology, particularly the use of AI-assisted tools and data analysis to improve creative workflows, production efficiency and the measurement of campaign performance.
To strengthen his expertise in these areas, he has undertaken training in generative AI, user experience, Webflow development and data analytics, applying the knowledge to projects that combine visual creativity with practical business objectives.
Looking ahead, Afolabi hopes to mentor emerging designers, share practical insights with the creative community and contribute to conversations about the responsible adoption of AI in the industry.
As businesses increasingly seek creative professionals who can combine visual storytelling with digital expertise and measurable results, Afolabi’s transition from Nigerian television branding and advertising to digital roles in the UK reflects the expanding opportunities at the intersection of creativity, business and technology.
