Nigerian-British actress Wunmi Mosaku has secured a nomination at the 98th Academy Awards, placing her among contenders for the Best Supporting Actress category.

Mosaku received the nomination for her performance in the film Sinners, one of the productions tipped as a strong contender in multiple categories ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for Sunday.

The actress is competing alongside Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Amy Madigan and Teyana Taylor in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Also nominated for roles in Sinners are Michael B. Jordan, who is in the running for Best Actor, and Delroy Lindo, nominated for Best Supporting Actor.

The 2026 Oscars feature several highly rated films battling for top honours, including One Battle After Another and Sinners, both widely seen as early front-runners.

The ceremony will hold on Sunday, March 15, with American comedian Conan O’Brien returning as host of the prestigious global film awards.

Mosaku’s nomination has attracted attention among Nigerian movie enthusiasts, many of whom view it as another milestone for actors of Nigerian heritage making their mark in the international film industry.
