Nigeria World Boxing Federation (WBF) Super Featherweight Champion, Ridwan Scorpion Oyekola, has recorded a resounding victory against a Japanese opponent, Daisuke Watanabe in an international boxing challenge bout.
Scorpion won by unanimous decisions of three judges scoring: 78-75, 78-74, 78-73 after the eight tough rounds of action at Gateaux kingdom, Sapporo in Japan in the early hours of Saturday.
Reacting to the victory, the chairman of the organising committee when Scorpion won his WBF world title belt, Sir Olawale Okuniyi has described the victory as another monumental feat from the Ibadan born fighter.
Okunniyi however commended the management of Core Afrique Boxing Promotions (COABOX) under its CEO Olusola Ayodele for not relenting in working towards the best for the boxer.
Also reacting was the Chairman of West African Boxing Association, (WABU) Remi Aboderin who also doubles as the Secretary of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) congratulates Oyekola for defeating Watanabe who is the second most ranked boxer in Japan.
“Scorpion has done so well by recording a sound victory in far away Japan. He’s one of boxers in recent times that will achieve such a laudable feat,” said Aboderin.
