AVEVA, an industrial software company, has announced the release of its fifth annual Sustainability Report, highlighting the critical role of industrial intelligence in tackling global climate challenges.

The report revealed substantial progress across the company’s sustainability framework, particularly in reducing its operational footprint and advancing green product development.

A key highlight from the report is AVEVA’s continued success in reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions, maintaining a remarkable 93 per cent reduction against its baseline year. This achievement is attributed to strategic measures including a pivot to renewable energy sources, optimized office space management, and fleet efficiency improvements.

In a significant step towards sustainable software development, AVEVA has completed green product design maturity assessments for its entire product portfolio by the end of 2024, aligning with the Green Software Foundation’s principles. Furthermore, research and development teams have conducted power bench testing for 85% of its solutions to evaluate energy consumption, establishing a crucial baseline for future improvements.

Caspar Herzberg, Chief Executive Officer of AVEVA, emphasised the synergy between sustainability and business success. “We are focused on helping our customers harness the full potential of industrial intelligence, bringing visibility and insight to complex data and processes,” Herzberg stated. “This empowers the industry to achieve measurable improvements in both efficiency and productivity, unlocking significant savings in costs, emissions and resource requirements.”

For the first time, AVEVA has also released an annual figure for saved and avoided emissions, reflecting the material energy savings observed from a specific portion of its products. This initiative highlights the company’s technology handprint, its positive climate impact through its core products and customer solutions.

Lisa Wee, Chief Security Officer of AVEVA, reiterated the company’s commitment to its 2025 targets and a bolder future path.

“We know that the biggest impact comes from our software handprint, how we work with our customers to enable them to drive decarbonization, become more resilient and support circularity,” Wee added. “We are committed to expanding our methodology to capture and quantify our broader impact.”

The report reinforces AVEVA’s dedication to driving digital transformation for a sustainable future, leading by example with responsible operations.
