Star striker, Victor Osimhen may have grabbed two goals against Gabon, but former Super Eagles captain and coach, Sunday Oliseh has picked Benjamin Fredrick as the team’s best performer on Wednesday night.
Eric Chelle’s team rallied to a 4-1 win in extra time after a 1-1 draw in regulation time at Stade Mohammed V in Rabat, Morocco.
The victory guaranteed the Super Eagles’ advancement to face DR Congo in the finals of the CAF leg of the play-offs in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers on Sunday.

In an X post, Oliseh singled out Fredrick as the best performer for the Super Eagles in the tension-soaked encounter.
He said, “I personally found Benjamin Fredrick to be the most influential player yesterday versus Gabon for SuperEagles. Always well positioned, pacy, decisive and played simply. Now let’s celebrate today. But from tomorrow Congo needs to be our next victim.”
In a humorous tone, Oliseh added, “Boy it feels great in the morning when Naija do well sha! Abi I lie? Have a nice day everyone.”
