General Overseer of Rhema Deliverance Mission, Iba, Lagos, Dr. Anene Nwachukwu, has lamented Nigeria’s slow development 66 years after independence, citing hunger, inflation and the rising cost of living.
Speaking at the church’s 26th annual convention, themed “The God That Showed Mercy,” Nwachukwu said many Nigerians were struggling to survive while politicians had begun campaigning for the 2027 elections.
“Nigeria is still crawling. At 66 years, Nigeria is still crawling. There is nothing to show as a nation,” he said.
He urged political leaders to address the hardship facing households and called for divine intervention in the country’s affairs and the coming elections.

Citing 2 Chronicles 7:14, he urged Nigerians to pray for the nation’s healing and remain hopeful despite its challenges.
On the convention’s theme, he said the church was celebrating God’s mercy and protection over the years.
Also speaking, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Ojo Federal Constituency, Bolaji Kayode Robert, pledged to continue his humanitarian work and serve people irrespective of ethnic affiliation.
He said Nigeria had yet to attain its desired level of development but expressed optimism about its progress, urging citizens to remain committed to building a better country.
