National Leader, Yoruba Self-Determination Movement (YSDM), Prof Adebanji Akintoye, has raised the alarm that Nigeria is speeding towards a violent implosion.

He stated this in a letter on the state of the nation, and made available to journalists on Friday.

According to him, “Nigeria is heading towards a frighteningly cataclysmic implosion, as every group and every community is arming its youths for community defence. The over 200 million people entrapped in Nigeria deserve help from the world – and from Africa.

“In particular, those nationalities that have unambiguously demanded separation from Nigeria, that have boldly placed their self-determination demand in writing before the government of Nigeria and before the international community, and that are struggling, bravely fighting and bleeding in pursuit of their self-determination, deserve the attention and intervention of the world and of Africa.

“We refer to the large Biafra nation in the Nigerian South East, the large Yoruba nation in the South West, the large Hausa nation in the North West, and the Ijaw nation in the Delta of the River Niger in the South, all four nations amounting to over two-thirds of Nigeria’s population and territorial size.”
