The Nigeria Athletics Federation (AFN) Technical Director, Coach Samuel Onikeku has assured that Team Nigeria is expecting at least 10 gold medals from athletics as podium events will begin today.
“We came to compete and win medals. Nigeria athletics team has always been winning the past edition of the African Games, we believe this edition will not be an exception.
“We have started some finals and we believe from Tuesday medals will start coming from every angle. 10 gold medals is always enough to win the athletics events. That has always been our standard, we want to get to that level. 10 gold will help Nigeria to sit comfortably on the 2nd position.”
Coach Onikeku shared his aspirations to encourage Nigerian fans just before the commencement of 110m hurdles and triple jump qualifications.
