As the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group begins today in Bangkok, Thailand, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has said increased investment and job creation would top Nigeria’s agenda at the global gathering.

A statement released on Sunday by Efe Ovuakporie, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the Federal Ministry of Finance disclosed that

Oyedele will lead the country’s delegation to the Annual Meetings of the global lenders.

The meetings, scheduled for October 12 to 18, will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, development partners and other global economic decision-makers to discuss global economic developments, financing priorities and strategies for sustainable growth. According to the ministry, Oyedele arrived in Bangkok ahead of the meetings, which provides Nigeria with an opportunity to engage international financial institutions and development partners on issues central to its economic priorities.

The ministry said Nigeria’s participation comes amid ongoing efforts to strengthen macroeconomic stability, attract investment and ensure that economic reforms translate into productive activities, expanded business opportunities and jobs.

“Oyedele’s participation provides an opportunity for Nigeria to engage with international financial institutions and development partners on issues relevant to the country’s economic priorities and its place in the global economy,” it added.

The ministry said further details of the minister’s engagements and Nigeria’s participation would be communicated as the meetings progress.
