The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), Bashir Ojulari, has disclosed that the country has achieved full pipeline availability for the first time in 20 years.

Ojulari, who spoke at the 7th African Petroleum Producers’ Organisation (APPO) National Oil Companies CEOs Forum, said the milestone was made possible through improved collaboration between NNPC Ltd, host communities, and security agencies.

He noted that the milestone that has restored confidence in the resilience of the country’s energy infrastructure.

According to a statement issued by the company’s Spokesperson, Andy Odeh on Tuesday, the GCEO also reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to partner with other African countries to achieve sustainable energy security, highlighting projects such as the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline and the Nigeria–Morocco Gas Pipeline, designed to deepen regional integration and cross-border energy trade.

He stressed the urgency for Africa to accelerate its energy transition and take charge of its energy future, noting that the decline of European investments in fossil fuel refineries, with most set to phase out by 2030, makes it imperative for the continent to harness its abundant natural resources.

“Africa must take ownership of its resources and policies. Our policies should be designed by us. With our vast resource base and improved governance structures, I am confident the continent can secure its energy destiny,” Ojulari said.

Ojulari added that the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) continues to create an enabling environment for investors across the oil and gas value chain, noting that NNPC Ltd is benchmarking its operations against global energy leaders such as Petrobras, Petronas, and Saudi Aramco.
