Nigeria is on the path of renewed greatness, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Princess Gloria Akobundu, has declared, urging Nigerian women to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

Akobundu made the declaration at the APC Women Stakeholders’ Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Summit held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja on Monday.

The summit, convened by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, also witnessed the formal integration of more than 500 women support groups from across the six geopolitical zones into the APC Presidential Campaign Council Women Wing.

The groups, which organisers said represent millions of women voters, subsequently endorsed President Tinubu for a second term in office.

Akobundu, who serves on the APC PCC Women Mobilisation Wing and as Secretary of the PCC Faith-Based Mobilisation (Christians), said the women’s mobilisation was crucial to sustaining the gains of the administration.

She said: “Nigeria is on the path of renewed greatness. Continuity is essential if we are to complete the transformation that has begun.”

The APC chieftain particularly urged women voters across the country, including those in the South-East, to support the President and ensure the consolidation of what she described as the achievements of the administration.

Earlier, the First Lady told the gathering that the Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0, themed “From Reforms to Prosperity”, was no longer merely a campaign slogan but was beginning to produce tangible results.

She cited what she described as improving economic conditions, growing foreign reserves, renewed investor confidence, increased support for farmers and access to student loans through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

Senator Tinubu urged the women to return to their respective states and communities with a clear message of support for the President, stressing that his administration had demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions.

She also announced the integration of independent women support groups, including the Torch Bearers, into a unified APC campaign structure.

“What you will see on the ballot box is APC. We’re here to promote APC, nothing less,” she said, adding that the mobilisation would cover presidential, governorship, National and State Assembly elections.

According to her, six zonal mega rallies are expected to be held ahead of a grand finale in Abuja as the party intensifies its women mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

A major highlight of the summit was the empowerment of women with livelihood-support items, including tricycles, sewing machines, refrigerators and agricultural implements.

Akobundu congratulated the beneficiaries, describing the items as instruments of economic empowerment rather than mere gifts.

“These items are not mere gifts; they are instruments of economic liberation. Use them diligently, productively and purposefully so that your families, communities and the nation at large will feel the positive impact,” she said.

The summit attracted APC women leaders, First Ladies of APC-controlled states, state women leaders, faith-based mobilisers and grassroots organisers from across the country.

The organisers said the mobilisation marked a major step in the party’s strategy to consolidate its women support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
