The Oluwo of Iwoland in Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marked his 74th birthday.
In a birthday felicitation message released by the monarch and made available to journalists through his press secretary, Alli Ibraheem, on Sunday, Oba Akanbi described Tinubu as a “builder” and a leader of immense value who has laid “renewed foundational hope” for Nigeria and Nigerians.
The Oluwo said Tinubu has distinguished himself with a “decisive and aggressive campaign against illegalities” that, according to him, had stalled Nigeria’s economic growth for years.
He also commended the President’s economic direction, pointing to improvements he said were reflected in naira stability, Nigeria’s foreign reserves, and other structural reforms, including the unification of the exchange market, increased oil output, and higher foreign investment inflows.
Oba Akanbi further attributed positive momentum to Tinubu’s administration, saying the government has granted local government autonomy, increased allocations to state governments, expanded Nigeria’s road networks, and improved palliative distribution to grassroots communities.

The monarch noted that while some past leaders attempted to implement painful but necessary economic measures, they were, in his view, overwhelmed by public and political pressure—stressing that only a capable leader can sustain such decisions.
“You are not yet a capable leader until you take decision and stand by it. Many past presidents of Nigeria attempted to remove the clog in the wood of our economic prosperity, but were overrun by public outcries. Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon leadership by restoring the glory of Nigeria through aggressive reforms. Nigeria has never had such a decisive President,” Oba Akanbi said.
He added that Nigeria’s foreign reserves had, in his assessment, risen from about $1 billion at the time Tinubu assumed office to over $49.5 billion, and that local government autonomy and other initiatives are already beginning to reflect in the lives of citizens.
Oba Akanbi expressed hope that the next phase would bring more stability, adding that many Nigerians, in his words, may “beg” Tinubu for more than two terms.
He prayed for Tinubu’s sound health and divine wisdom, concluding that Nigerians should support the President with prayers to witness “a more prosperous Nigeria.”
