Preparations have intensified in Kaduna as Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles continue their build-up for the first leg of their Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against Ghana, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The national team is currently in camp in Kaduna, where the players are undergoing intensive training sessions at the Murtala Mohammed Square Sports Complex ahead of the crucial two-legged encounter.
President of the African Beach Soccer Union (ABSU) and National Coordinator of Nigeria Beach Soccer, Mahmud Hadejia, visited the players and officials in camp and commended the Kaduna State Government for its support of beach soccer.
Hadejia particularly praised Governor Uba Sani for hosting the Super Four Finals last week and subsequently welcoming the national beach soccer team for its training camp.
According to Hadejia, Kaduna possesses one of the finest facilities for beach soccer in Africa, making it an ideal location for the Super Sand Eagles’ preparations and the upcoming qualifier.
He also commended the National Sports Commission (NSC) and Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for supporting the decision to take the national team to Kaduna, describing it as part of a programme developed in collaboration with the state government.
Hadejia further provided financial assistance to the players as motivation ahead of their encounter with their West African neighbours.

He was accompanied during the visit by beach soccer stakeholders, including Engineer Musa Nimrod, as well as officials of the Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development led by Permanent Secretary Mrs Dorcas Benjamin Tanko and the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Sports, Muhammad Amin Mahmood.
Nimrod described Kaduna as a home for beach sports competitions and disclosed that improvement works were ongoing on the pitch to ensure it meets Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards.
The Kaduna State Ministry of Sports Development also assured the Super Sand Eagles of a hitch-free camping programme, with the state government providing the necessary support.
Tanko added that the state government, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Development, would mobilise supporters to cheer the Nigerian team during the first-leg encounter scheduled for October 10 in Kaduna.
Speaking on behalf of the team, head coach Abdullahi Isa expressed appreciation to the Kaduna State Government for its support.
Isa said the players were highly motivated and adapting well to the weather conditions, while expressing confidence that Nigeria would overcome Ghana across the two legs and secure qualification for the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal later this year.
