Nigeria, and the Federal Republic of Germany, have signed a Financial and Technical Cooperation commitments agreement amounting to €65 million.
The sum, according to the Minister of State, Budget and Economic Planning, Doris Uzoka-Anite, will be expanded on agreed priority programmes.
The minister also said the government welcomed the offer of an Export Credit Guarantee Financing Framework of up to €300 million for the Government of Nigeria, which will further support investment mobilisation and access to long-term financing for strategic development projects.
Key areas of cooperation included sustainable economic development training and employment, climate and energy, just transition, transformation of agricultural and food systems, health, social protection and population policy, including peaceful and inclusive societies.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Abuja, Uzoka-Anite further said the signing marked another important milestone in the longstanding partnership between the Nigeria and Germany.

In her remarks, the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, said the bi-annual negotiations represented a key milestone in the bilateral cooperation between Germany and Nigeria and provided an important platform to take stock of the joint achievements, align priorities, and chart the way forward.
Earlier, the Africa Director at BMZ, Philipp Knill, said Nigeria is a strategic economic and political partner of Germany in African continent.
Knill disclosed that prominent German companies, particularly Siemens, SAP, Bayer and STIHL, were taking advantage of the opportunities of the German-Nigerian cooperation to actively participate in the nation’s business sector.
