The ambition of Enugu West senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osita Ngwu has received a major boost as women from his zone have pledged to ensure that he emerges victorious in 2023 general election.
The group, Enugu West Dynamic Ladies has assured Ngwu that they would not only give him their votes but would canvass more votes for him in the coming election.
Speaking during a visit to the senatorial candidate, the national coordinator of Enugu West Dynamic Ladies, Oby Udeze, said they were there to endorse Ngwu and assure him that all women in the zone are solidly behind him.
Udeze said they had no doubt about Ngwu’s capacity to represent the zone credibly in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
She said: “Since 2019, we have been there for him, and now we have come en masse to show that we were there then and, now, we are giving him 100 percent support. I thank God Almighty for choosing him to represent Enugu West.
“First, we don’t expect anything less than 100 percent vote for him and when he wins, by the special grace of God, we want him to go there and make Enugu West proud.
“As a human, he can do his best in all his words. All we owe him now is our support and prayers, but if he can give us 98 percent of what he has planned to do, we will be happy for him.
“I know him personally as a man of his word. He will keep his promises. He is going there to take care of Enugu West and we know, in the four years of his first tenure, a new Enugu West will emerge and it will be great and people will testify that he is a great thing that happened to Enugu West”, she said.
Responding, Ngwu promised new jobs for Enugu West Dynamic Ladies as well as their children, saying he has created over 600 jobs through his private business. His words: “I am very happy that this number of women came out within a short notice to see me and pledge their loyalty and support because they believe in me, and I am happy about that; but the important thing is not about people giving you their support, it is about fulfilling the promises you made to the people.
“I have made them promises and I am sure that I will fulfill the promises, such as better healthcare. Heathcare is a problem here. We have to make sure we build a robust healthcare here within the capacity of the area we are covering.
“We will train people and empower the unemployed. These are some of the promises I made and I am sure I am going to fulfill them.”
On how more jobs will be created and human capcity enhanced under his watch, if elected to the Senate, Ngwu explained part of his blueprint, saying: “We have to make sure first that we use the SME system we have available to create training, and we can give people jobs in the area of specialty and interest. So, by the time we train them, we will know the specialty and area to offer jobs in.”
