Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the United Kingdom (APC UK) and the APC Diaspora Chairmen of Council (APC CDC), Tunde Doherty, has urged Nigerians to continue to honour the legacies of the founding fathers and the enduring spirit of the citizens.

In a statement he issued to commemorate the 65th independence anniversary of Nigeria’s nationhood, Doherty said: “Sixty-five years of Nigeria’s independence is not merely a historical milestone, it is a testament to our resilience, our unity in diversity, and our unwavering hope for a better tomorrow.”

He stated that the diaspora chapter of the party under his leadership is committed to fostering inclusive governance, civic engagement, and strategic collaboration between Nigeria and its global citizens.

“The diaspora remains a vital force in shaping Nigeria’s future. We must continue to build bridges across borders, advocate transparency, and empower our communities to contribute meaningfully to national development,” he added.

Doherty called on all Nigerians to reflect on the values of freedom, justice, and progress, and to recommit themselves to the collective pursuit of a prosperous and united nation.
