Niger State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman has said that the budgetary allocation for the Ministry in the 2023 appropriation bill before the state legislators is low.
Suleiman disclosed this while briefing journalists on the achievements of the Ministry since the inception of the current administration.
The Commissioner appealed to the state assembly to improve its allocation to enable the Ministry carry out projects that would touch the lives of youths down to the grassroots.
“The budget performance for 2022 was at 45 per cent. About N300 million was proposed as capital projects for the ministry in 2023,” he said.
The Commissioner also assured that the ministry would complete all the ongoing construction and renovation of sportsportsres across the state before the exit of the present administration.
Suleiman said Ahmadu Bahago Sports complex and Indoor Sports centre that are under renovation would be completed in the next 4 months.
Suleiman said the state was recently adjudged home of traditional sports centre at the just concluded National Sports Festival due to its various sporting activities such as basketball, handball, squash, and badminton among others.
