…Says explosion caused by dynamite

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed the explosion of dynamites which were parked at a density populated residential buildings in Sabon Pegi in Mashegun local government area of the state on Sunday.

The Police Command in a statement in Minna by the public relation officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun said the suspected dynamites were kept in a residential house by one Yushau for a purported mining activity.

The Police claimed that the explosion led to the unfortunate death of one Fatima Sadauki, while six others were injured and taken to general hospital Kainji, New Bussa for medical attention.

“The incident affected about twelve houses in the area and the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman has ordered for an investigation into the incident”.

He disclosed that the command has dispatched EOD-CBRN unit to the scene for assessment, but added that one Yushau who was said to kept the explosives is currently at large.

He stated further that “normalcy has been restored in the area while monitoring continues”.
