Niger State Police Command has arrested 20 suspected armed robbers and kidnappers. Commissioner of Police, Adamu Elleman, said: “The command intensified efforts to curb crime and criminality. Officers have been advised to be professional against use of torture in conducting investigations on suspects.
“Operatives attached to Tudun-Wada Division, with the aid of technical intelligence, recovered a stolen vehicle at Danmani, Igabi Local Government, Kaduna State. Bosso Division arrested a landlady and daughter at El-Waziri, Minna, for theft of of a tenant’s property worth N1 million and recovered one LG plasma 32-inch television, one electric cooking stove and half a bag of charcoal, two extension boxes, one 5kg gas cylinder.
“Police at B Division, Bida, arrested some for vandalizing electric poles at Ndejiko village. Area Command, Suleja, in collaboration with other security agencies and vigilante members, conducted a sting operation around APC Quarters, Guaraka, a hideout, and arrested nine suspects who specialised in pocket robbery.
“Operatives at Central Police Division along with vigilante members carried out raids on criminals’ hideouts and arrested 12 suspects in Paida, Sabon-Gari, Gwari Market and Abdulsalami Quarters. We recovered five bags of suspected cannabis.
“Police arrested a dismissed soldier for fraud in Bida, attempting to deceitfully collect N120,000. The same suspect dressed in military camouflage to carry out a similar scam in which he swindled a POS attendant in Kateereal of N300,000. The suspect confessed and claimed to be a solider dismissed in 2022 in Benin, Edo State.
“Two suspects residing in Maje conspired and threatening one victims on phone to be kidnappers or pay N30 million were arrested. Police at Gawu-Babangida Division arrested two suspects at Goi village for attempt to commit an offence. Three locally fabricated revolver guns and two live cartridges were recovered.
“Operatives of 12 Police Mobile Force (PMF) rescued five kidnapped victims due to the sustained pressure from the security. The suspected kidnappers escaped from the scene.”
