The Saminu Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has visited the Niger State Governor, Umaru Mohammed Bago in Minna, yesterday, to commiserate with him over the attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Missionary School, Papiri community Agwara Local Government Area.
Over 303 students and 12 staff were abducted during the midnight raid by bandits.
The PDP NWC that met the governor and other members of his cabinet at the government house in Minna expressed regret over the recent tragic incident, describing it as unfortunate and a sad development.
The high-powered sympathy visit to Niger State by the party’s NWC included all the members of the Turaki-led faction of the party.
The delegation was received at the Government House, Minna, by Gov Bago.
During the visit, the party expressed deep pain and anguish over the rising wave of insecurity in the state and other parts of the country, particularly the heartbreaking abduction of innocent schoolchildren.

The party condemned the attack and all acts of terror against Nigerians.
The PDP National Chairman maintained that security issues are critical, hence, collaborative efforts are needed towards finding a lasting solution to them.
“We feel what you feel and we are with you at this very challenging moment. We will support you in whatever way we can to ensure that there is peace and progress in Niger State, and indeed, in our country.
“We may be an opposition party, but we believe in responsible opposition. We believe that at times like this, leaders must forget political differences and come together to find a lasting solution for this problem,” he stressed.
Turaki commended Governor Bago for his prompt response and ongoing efforts in collaboration with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted children and restore peace in the affected communities.
He assured the governor and the people of Niger State of the PDP’s unwavering sympathy, prayers and support at this difficult time, adding that the opposition party remained committed to the safety and welfare of all Nigerians irrespective of political affiliation.
