The Niger Delta Advocacy Group (New Era Movement) (NDAG) has passed a vote of confidence in the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
It also commended the performance of the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Dr. Dennis Otuaro for reinvigorating the amnesty programme for the overall well-being of the Niger Delta people and Tantita Security Services for its significant contributions to the fight against oil fight which has brought sanity to the oil industry.
The National leader of NDAG, Ebilade Ekerefe in an end-of-the-year statement said the Ogbuku-led NDDC has offered a breath of fresh air for the Niger Delta region after years of protracted legitimate leadership crisis.
“Majority of stakeholders are very comfortable and pleased with Dr Ogbuku’s approach to issues and the development he is attracting to our rural communities, especially the operation Light up the Niger Delta initiative which is so dear to our people, amongst many interventions that are visible to the eyes that NDDC under his leadership has embarked upon. Today NDDC is more organised and stable.
“We, therefore, seized this opportunity to pass a vote of confidence in Dr. Samuel Ogbuku led NDDC for its outstanding performance and reiterate our commitment and solidarity to his administration’s quest to ensure that the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu is felt in all the nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta region. We equally call on those trying to destabilise the gains of the peace and development recorded in the NDDC under Dr. Samuel Ogbuku to have a rethink and join hands with him to build a better region,’’ he said.

On the amnesty programme, Ekerefe lamented issues bedeviling the smooth running of the programme, noting, however, that Dr. Otuaro has been able to consolidate the existing peace in the region through his periodic engagements.
He warned those trying to instigate crisis in the Niger Delta by disrupting the smooth running of the programme through blackmail to desist as it would not be in the interest of the Niger Delta people.
Ekerefe pointed out that Tantita Security Services has played a pivotal role in the fight against crude oil theft.
According to him, the feat recorded by Tantita has attracted formidable enemies who are bent on tarnishing the image of the company.
“It is obvious that some bag eggs in the security agencies in collaboration with some big oil thieves are not comfortable with the operations of the company. They are doing everything, including sponsoring a smear campaign against the Chairman of the company, Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo. We call on those involved to desist from such acts and give room for constructive engagement,’’ he noted.
