The Niger Delta Progressive Alliance has commended Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for its pipeline management, flood response and community support across parts of the Niger Delta.
In a statement signed by its representative, Amb. Nse Victor Udoh, the group said the recent flooding provided a major test for critical infrastructure, particularly the Eastern corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline.
The Alliance noted that the absence of major pipeline-related environmental incidents during the flood period was worthy of commendation, attributing the outcome to sustained surveillance, routine inspections, maintenance and prompt intervention by PINL.
It recalled that flooding in the Niger Delta had, in previous years, been compounded by oil spills and pollution, resulting in damaged farmlands, contaminated waterways and significant losses to fishing and agricultural livelihoods.

Beyond pipeline integrity, the group also praised PINL for providing relief to flood-affected communities in Rivers, Bayelsa and Imo states, as well as supporting restoration efforts in areas affected by illegal refining and implementing empowerment initiatives for women and youths.
The Alliance said such interventions demonstrated the importance of corporate social responsibility that goes beyond donations to include sustained community development and environmental protection.
It urged PINL to maintain the standard while encouraging other operators in the region to prioritise preventive maintenance, environmental safety and meaningful engagement with host communities.
“The Niger Delta deserves this standard,” the group said, stressing that preventing environmental disasters should remain a fundamental responsibility of companies operating critical infrastructure in the region.
