• Warns against corrupt practices

Niger State Governor Umar Mohammed Bago has sworn in 30 commissioners that will form his cabinet with a sterm warning for them to stay clear from all forms of corrupt practices in the cause of discharging their duties.

The governor any member of his executive council found indulging himself in corrupt act will be shown the way out without hesitation.
Bago who gave the warning when he inaugurated the 30 member state executive council and 30 Special Advisers at the Justices Idris Legbo Kutigi international conference center in Minna on Monday said, “Let me sound it very clearly that there will be no room for complacency, docility and very importantly, corruption.

“You cannot see the privilege of your appointment as an opportunity for self-enrichment. If you allow yourself to be caught in the twisted web of corruption, you will definitely be shown the way out.”

He reminded the commissioners and Special Advisers that the administration’s desire is to see the exhibition of individual wealth of experience in his or her areas of assignments.

“I want you all to work together in synergy to ensure that collectively, we deliver on our mandates to the people.

“I need you all to embrace teamwork as the key to driving the implementation of government policies and programmes, while complementing each other to achieve the overall target of delivering the highest good for the highest number of the people.

“I will personally hold you accountable to whatever that happens in your ministries and areas of assignment. I counsel you to be open minded, vigilante and ensure fairness and justice to all.”

The governor used the opportunity to call on the people of the state to give his administration the maximum support in delivering its mandate of a better Niger State, adding that: “We will be open to constructive criticisms and value additions from all stakeholders in the governance process..

“We all have a collective responsibility to build a greater Niger State where peace, development and harmonious coexistence exists”, stressing further that the focus of his administration shall be among other things, to provide the constitutional responsibility of protecting the lives and property of all while ensuring that the people continue to go about their daily routines in peaceful and secured environment.

“We will provide critical infrastructures for education, health and agricultural value-chain, job creation and youth empowerment as well as improved urban renewal among others,” he added.
