Niger 2027: Idris endorses Bago, calls for APC support for Tinubu

Niger 2027 Idris endorses Bago, calls for APC support for Tinubu

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has endorsed the second-term bid of Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, while urging members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to rally behind President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.

Idris made his position known during a solidarity visit to Bago in Minna, putting to rest speculation over where he stood on the governor’s re-election bid.

The minister praised Bago’s administration for its development initiatives, saying the governor’s performance justified another term in office.

Idris said Bago had demonstrated “a strong commitment to transforming Niger State through his administration’s New Niger Agenda”.

He argued that the achievements recorded by the administration since taking office provided sufficient grounds for continuity, adding that a second term would enable Bago to consolidate ongoing projects and deepen development programmes across the state.

The minister also used the occasion to canvass support for Tinubu’s re-election, urging APC members and Nigerians to back the President’s bid for another term.

According to Idris, continued support for Tinubu would allow the Federal Government to consolidate its economic reforms and other initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said the reforms were designed to reposition the Nigerian economy and improve citizens’ living conditions.

Idris stressed that the political objectives of the 2027 elections should extend beyond individual ambitions, calling on the APC to maintain unity and present a united front at both the national and state levels.

The minister was in Niger State to commiserate with the family of the late Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Aminu Yussuf, before meeting with the governor.

Responding, Bago thanked Idris for the visit and for expressing confidence in his administration.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to policies and programmes aimed at improving the welfare and quality of life of residents, promising that his administration would sustain its development efforts.
