NIA charges women to protect health, business, future with insurance

Director-General of Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA) Mrs. Bola Odukale, has charged women in Nigeria to protect their health, businesses and future with the power of insurance as they mark the 2025 International Women’s Day.

In statement made available to Daily Sun, the DG of NIA called on female insurers, women professionals, and women globally to keep the faith alive as she salute their dedication, resilience, and innovative spirit. “Your invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the insurance industry in Nigeria are a testament to your hard work and determination. You have broken barriers, defied stereotypes, and inspired a new generation of women to pursue careers in insurance.

NIA Chief add that the Association would continue to protecting and advance the common interests of insurers, support initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as work with its member companies to create a more level playing field for women in Nigeria.

With the theme: “Accelerate Action,” Mrs Odukale affirmed that the this resonates deeply with NIA’s values and mission, saying: “We are proud to be part of a global movement that recognizes the importance of women’s empowerment and gender equality and will continue to accelerate action towards creating a more inclusive and equitable industry, where women can thrive and reach their full potential rapidly.

She added “To women globally, your unwavering determination and relentless pursuit of excellence are truly inspiring. As we celebrate your achievements, I want to highlight the critical role insurance plays in securing your financial well-being.

“Insurance empowers you to build resilience, drive economic growth, and break free from poverty by providing a financial safety net, protecting your assets, and offering peace of mind.
As we celebrate this special day, I urge you all to take control of your financial lives, prioritize your insurance needs, and support one another in your pursuit of financial freedom.

The Insurance expert maintained that; NIA, in line with the 2025 IWD theme, will continue to work with its member companies to: Promote women’s leadership and career advancement in the insurance industry; Support initiatives that address the unique challenges faced by women in the industry; encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our operations and Partner with organizations that share our commitment to gender equality and women’s empowerment.
