The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria said: “In July 2025, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria officially launched the “Ni Hao (Hello)! China” programme here in Abuja. Every week, this broadcast reaches millions of listeners across Nigeria, offering an accessible and engaging way to learn Chinese and gain insight into China’s culture, society, and development.
“Language is far more than a tool for communication – it is a window to a broader understanding of the world.”
Noting that the impact is already tangible, the Chinese Embassy added that it was increasing as “we hear Nigerian friends greet us with a warm ‘Ni Hao’ on the streets of Abuja and beyond.”
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria also said the simple greeting speaks volumes as it is the very essence of people-to-people exchange, drawing both nations closer, one word at a time.
