NGO donates food items to orphans in Ibadan

A non-governmental organisation, Grateful Giving NGO, has demonstrated its commitment to supporting vulnerable children in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by donating food items to two orphanages in the city.

The donation, which included bags of rice, cornflakes, cartons of noodles, custard, beverages, milk, Golden Morn, and packs of spaghetti were delivered to the homes some days to this year’s Christmas.

The items were presented to Tabitha Orphanage Home, Joyce B, Ring Road, and Dorcas Adunnola Oyediji Home, Olubadan Estate, Off New Ife Road.

Representative of Grateful Giving NGO, Mr. Abiodun Awodipe, stated that the organisation has been consistently supporting motherless homes and orphanages with food donations for the past five years.

“We are committed to bringing happiness and a sense of belonging to each child,” he said.

Awodipe stated that the donations were aimed at ensuring that all the children in the homes could also celebrate a joyous Christmas.

“Despite the economic challenges being faced by the country, our NGO remains steadfast in its commitment to bringing a glimmer of happiness to the lives of the underprivileged.”

The Home Administrators of the two orphanages, who expressed their gratitude for the support, received the donations. Miss Grace Okpala, the Home Administrator of Tabitha Home, on behalf of the founder and Executive Director of the home, Febisola Okonkwo, thanked the Grateful Giving NGO, and said: “The donations are very useful as they will help in ensuring that the nutritional needs of the children are met.

“We have about 60 children in our care. There are some times that we do not even have noodles, and sometimes we just have to go and buy out there. We may not even have cereal. W are grateful to the Grateful Giving NGO and all our donors.” In the same vein, the Home Administrator of Dorcas Adunnola Oyediji Home, Onyedikachi Denton, said the gesture has brought hope and happiness to the children, who often feel forgotten and neglected. She noted that children in orphanages survive largely on donations from individuals, groups and organisations.

“We say thank you again to the Grateful Giving brothers for the kind and big donations towards the welfare of children in this home,” Denton stated.
