Ngige in court

Former Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has been remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre by Justice Mariam Hassan of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ngige is facing a corruption charge and will remain at the correctional centre until Monday, when his bail application will be heard.

The former minister is alleged to have conferred an unfair advantage on his associates in the award of several contracts during his tenure from 2015 to 2023.

Ngige also allegedly accepted gifts of several million naira through his organisations while he was in office.

He pleaded not guilty to all the eighth-count charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
