The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has resolved to peg the age limit of match commissioners at 60, even as it threatened to flush out those that are not computer literate.
Chairman of Match Commissioners Appointment committee, Babagana Kalli, who made the disclosure at the ongoing workshop for match commissioners in Abuja, said  a committee has already been set up to carry out the screening exercise.
“We have set up an adhoc committee to look at the ages of the match commissioners because we need vibrant and young ones to commission matches. We need to do this if we must take the league to the next level. We will not consider anybody above 60.
I want to appeal to the participants in this ongoing seminar to utilise the training because the resource persons are knowledgeable CAF instructors. That is the only way we can be on the same page,” he said.
On how his committee intends to handle indiscipline this season, he said: “We have two or three cases already and that is what we have been deliberating on in our committee meetings. Once a match commissioner is found wanting, he will be sanctioned through suspension or be relegated to the lower league.”
On the new thing to expect this season, he said: “The new thing this season is the introduction of online technology in commissioning matches. The match commissioners must be computer literate and should be able to feed the LMC online before sending in their match reports.”
