The Nigeria Football Federation has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate the recent setbacks suffered by the country’s national teams, with particular focus on the Super Falcons’ failure to qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The move follows Nigeria’s disappointing campaign at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where the Falcons were eliminated in the quarter-finals by Cameroon before losing 2-1 to South Africa in the subsequent World Cup qualifying playoff.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s remarkable record of appearing at every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since the tournament began in 1991.

The NFF said the committee would examine the setbacks recorded by the national teams and make recommendations aimed at preventing a recurrence.

Ambassador Fanny Amun, MON, will chair the committee, with former Nigeria internationals Ladan Bosso, Desire Oparanozie and Mutiu Adepoju, as well as Dr Alex Mana, serving as members.

Nasiru Jibril has been appointed secretary of the committee.

The federation said the committee’s findings and recommendations would inform measures to strengthen Nigeria’s performance in future international competitions.
