With Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro’s contract expiring at the end of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is not sure of his replacement.

This against the backdrop that the Super Eagles will resume the World Cup qualifiers in March.

NFF president, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, while fielding questions at a media parley in Lagos yesterday, said the federation is yet to begin search for Peseiro’s replacement.

“We are aware that his contract is up at the end of AFCON but as of now, we are yet to contact any coach neither do we have anyone in mind,” Alhaji Gusau said.

He, however, assured that before the start of the World Cup qualifiers, the picture would have become clearer on who will be in charge of the national team.

“We are taking the World Cup qualifiers very seriously, although we started on a shaking note but when hostilities resume in March, we are sure going to be serious with the campaign.

“By then, the picture of who the next Super Eagles coach will be would have become very clear. But at the moment, we have started negotiating with any coach, neither do we have anyone in mind,” he reiterated.

Meanwhile, the president has assured that the Super Eagles would make Nigerians proud at the AFCON.

“We’re fully prepared for the AFCON and with the gesture of President Tinubu, who has graciously approved our budget, the team has no distraction and is fully ready to make Nigerians proud in Cote d’Ivoire,” he said.
