The race for a new coach for the Super Eagles has taken a twist with another Portuguese appears now on pole position as the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) re-accessing the earlier choice of Emmanuel Amuneke.

It was gathered that over 50 applications were received, both from Nigerian coaches and their foreign counterparts with applications still arriving yesterday despite the deadline elapsing on Tuesday. A chieftain of the NFF Technical committee and the technical department, according to owngoalnigeria.com, said they are seriously scrutinizing the CVs of all interested coaches just to be sure the very best is appointed.

However, from the information reaching NSM Media, three coaches are the front-runners with Portuguese Antonio Conceicao topping the list.

Conceicao, a former coach of Cameroon is said to be highly favoured ahead of Micheal Nsien and Emmanuel Amuneke.

The 63-year-old Portuguese lost the chance to coach Nigeria two years ago to Jose Peseiro. He’s said to agree to the terms of the contract being proposed.

According to report, the NFF is offering maximum 50 dollars.
