The Nigeria Football Federation has insisted that it will go ahead with the September 30th Elective Congress in Benin despite a court order stopping it from doing so.
A memo released to the media dated September 14th, 2022 and signed by the General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi says the programmes listed will go on.
However, there are strong indications that the NFF election slated for same day has been called off.
According to NSM Media the election will not hold as planned due to a pending court case and other sundry issues.
Recall that on September 15, a court order obtained by Harrison Jalla, the task force chairman for the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) had put on hold the election.
According to Mr. Jalla, choosing 30 September for its Elective Congress, the NFF was initially attempting to break the law noting that a hearing in a lawsuit to modify the NFF Statutes is ongoing and scheduled for 31 October hence the choice of 30 September for the NFF election, as a result, is illegal.
A source told Sunday Sunsport that all the presidential candidates in the forthcoming NFF presidential election have been invited to an emergency meeting with the Minister of Youth and Sports Development.
