New Year: Energy reforms on track under Tinubu, says ECN DG

From Charity Nwakaudu, Abuja

The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr Mustapha Abdullahi, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his far-reaching energy sector reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, describing them as transformative and impactful for national development.

In his New Year message to Nigerians, Dr Abdullahi said President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a visionary blueprint designed to reposition Nigeria, restore its global standing, and make the country an attractive destination for both local and international investors.

According to him, the agenda is gradually becoming a rallying point for Nigerians seeking a more prosperous and sustainable society.

Dr Abdullahi noted that President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring universal access to renewable and sustainable energy has led to the revitalisation of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, which he said had previously been pushed to a near-comatose state.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ambitious and unwavering belief in his policies is driving transformative reforms and innovative initiatives that are advancing Nigeria’s energy transition,” he said. “These efforts are unlocking new opportunities for economic growth, sustainable development, and improved energy access for all Nigerians.”

He further emphasised that, as Chairman of the ECN, President Tinubu remains deeply committed to the Energy Transition Plan, which is a core component of the Renewed Hope Agenda. This commitment, he explained, underscores the administration’s recognition of clean energy and strategic reforms as essential pillars for building a resilient and future-ready energy sector.

Dr Abdullahi added that the president’s policies reflect Nigeria’s aspiration to emerge as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions, while simultaneously promoting economic progress and environmental responsibility.

He concluded by urging Nigerians to give President Tinubu their full support to ensure the successful implementation of these reforms and the realisation of the nation’s energy transition goals.
