Dr. Alex Maiangwa, the newly appointed Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Taraba Specialists Hospital, Jalingo, has charged health workers to uphold the dignity of patients and to treat them with respect, irrespective of status.
Maiangwa said this in Jalingo on Friday while receiving the hand over note from the outgoing CMD, Dr. Joel Rimande. He maintained that ensuring patients satisfaction would be central to his administration.
He said under his watch, effective policies would be implemented to give patients full components of service in the hospital.
“ The motor of this hospital is putting patients first; it did not say putting the management first. I intend to ensure that our patients get effective services right from the gate of this hospital to each and every department they will come across. My objective is to serve them well,” Maiangwa said.
While acknowledging the enormity of the challenges ahead, the CMD appreciated the state governor Darius Ishaku for reposing the confidence in him to lead the hospital and assured his staff that he would work tirelessly to improve their welfare and the general operations of the hospital to give it the needed boost and patient’s confidence.
Earlier, Dr. Rimande, described Maiangwa as a worthy successor endorsed by the hospital’s board saying he “would have been sad if the appointment had gone to someone new to this hospital because I will have to start taking him round to put him through on so many things. Besides, Maiangwa has been a loyal colleague who worked assiduously with me for the development of this hospital”.
Rimande urged the staff and management of the hospital to support Maiangwa in his new capacity as they “shared the same dream of making this hospital one of the best in the country.”
Maiangwa, a Consultant Obstetric Gynaecologist, was a deputy Medical Director at the Jalingo Specialist hospital before his appointment by the state governor Darius Ishaku on Tuesday, following the completion of Rimande’s tenure.
