The finely updated version of Peugeot 301 launched earlier in the year by PAN Nigeria, has won the Car of the Year (COTY) 2017 award, the second time in as many years.
Peugeot 301 Midlife was announced the winner of the coveted prize at this year’s annual awards ceremony organised in Lagos by auto journalists on Tuesday, December 12.
The declaration of Peugeot 301 Midlife ac the winner was greeted with a standing ovation by guests, including CEOs of corporate organisations, auto dealers and other stakeholders, who graced the night of suspense and glamour.
The Peugeot 301 Midlife sedan is an upgrade of the Peugeot 301 that earned the same award last year.
The affordable, locally-assembled sedan with the attributes of a modern car, including comfort and safety features, is a blend of contemporary aesthetic appeal, reliability, quality and exceptional value.
Adapted to be at home on Nigerian roads like its forebears, the 301 is now one of the most preferred sedans in the market and is fitted with significant improvement in engine technology (Pure Tech Engine) that won the European Engine of the Year 2017 award.
The Nigeria Auto Journalists Awards is the Nigerian equivalent of the traditional global automotive industry awards presented by motoring journalists in different countries and regional markets of the world to recognise the achievements of industry operators and deserving products.
Organised by the Nigerian Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) and presented to outstanding vehicles imported or assembled locally, the categories also cover recognition of allied products like tyres and accessories.
Reacting to the honour to the 301 Midlife, the managing director/CEO of PAN Nigeria Limited, Mr. Ibrahim Boyi, attributed the success of the car to Peugeot’s heritage of quality and value. Boyi, who himself was garlanded with the Auto CEO of the Year, also listed PAN management’s commitment to domesticating the lion brand’s globally acknowledged standards and adherence to international best practices, as other contributory factors.
