New minimum wage: Strike continue pending meeting with our members

From Adanna Nnamani, Abuja

Despite a successful discussion with the federal government on Monday, Organised Labour has maintained its stance to continue the industrial action over electricity price hike and the new minimum wage until consulting with its relevant bodies on Tuesday.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) reiterated this on its X platform.

Both NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) engaged in a fruitful dialogue with the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, and other government representatives on Monday, resulting in an agreement that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is dedicated to implementing a new minimum wage exceeding N60,000.

However, NLC emphasised on its X platform that, “Until we hear from Our Organs at our Meeting scheduled for today, 4th June, We are still on Strike.”

But taking to its X page, NLC wrote, “Until we hear from Our Organs at our Meeting scheduled for today 4th June , We are still on Strike.”
