New departure date for Kano pilgrims – Welfare Board

Hajj

From Desmond Mgboh, Kano

The departure date for intending pilgrims from Kano State has been moved to May 15.

A statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Kano Pilgrims Welfare Board, Isa Dederi, on Monday said the date earlier scheduled for the airlift of pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj exercise had been adjusted from May 14 to May 15, 2026.

He said the change of date was due to recent adjustments in flight arrangements by Max Air.

He added that the affected pilgrims were those from Gwale, Dala, Fagge and Ungogo local government areas.

“Consequently, all pilgrims from the above-mentioned local government areas who were originally scheduled to travel on 14th May 2026 are hereby advised that their departure has been rescheduled to 15th May 2026.

“Max Air regrets any inconvenience this change may have caused and appreciates the understanding and cooperation of all intending pilgrims.

“The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board assures all pilgrims that adequate arrangements are being made to ensure a smooth and successful airlift operation.

“The Board will continue to communicate relevant updates and reporting schedules to all pilgrims accordingly,” the statement added.
