A new Bishop has been ordained for the Catholic Diocese of Warri, Delta State.
He is Most Rev Anthony Ewherido, 5th in the order of bishops that have been installed in Warri Diocese.
Ewherido, 62, succeeded Most Rev John Okeoghene Afareha, who retired last year at the age of 75.
He was ordained and installed as Bishop at an episcopal ordination and installation held at the Holy Martyr of Uganda Minor Seminary, Effurun, Delta State.
The ceremony was attended by crème de la crème of the society including Delta State governor, Senator, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, represented by his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Ovie Agas; Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and immediate past Governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Other special guests at the ceremony included the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori; former minister of state for education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi; member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency at House of Representatives, Rev Francis Waive; member representing Okpe, Sapele and Uvwie Federal Constituency at the House Representatives, Efe Afe.
Also present are revered traditional rulers including the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Sideso, Abe I; Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse 111; Ovie of Ughelli, Oharisi 111; the Ovie of Agbon kingdom, HRM Michael Omeru, Ogurime-rime Ukori I; Okobaro of Ughievwen, HRM Matthew Egbi, Owahwa II and Pere of Seimbiri Kingdom, HRM Charles Ayemi Botu.
Others are the Ovie of Ozoro, HRM Anthony Ogbogbo, Ibuka I; Odio-Ologbo of Oleh, HRM Anthony Ovrawah, Omogha I and the immediate past President-General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Olorogun Moses Taiga.
