The Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) has extended the deadline for the submission of textbooks and other instructional materials for its 2026 Phase I assessment, reassessment and ranking exercise to August 7.
The extension, approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, followed the expiration of the earlier July 3 deadline.
In a statement, NERDC Executive Secretary, Prof. Salisu Shehu, said the extension would allow publishers, authors and other eligible stakeholders additional time to complete and submit their materials, while encouraging broader participation.
He urged intending participants to take advantage of the extension and ensure all submissions comply with the approved Textbook Quality Indicators and Submission Guidelines.

The council noted that the guidelines remain unchanged and are available on its official website.
NERDC, however, stressed that the August 7 deadline is final.
“No further extension will be granted, and late submissions received after the final deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances,” the statement said.
The council thanked publishers, authors and other stakeholders for their continued cooperation and urged them to comply promptly with the submission requirements.
NERDC conducts periodic assessment, reassessment and ranking of textbooks and instructional materials to improve the quality of learning resources in Nigerian schools and ensure compliance with national curriculum standards.
