Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has approved deadline extension for the closure of student loan application portal for some institutions that made formal requests for additional time for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This, it said, was to enable the eligible students to complete their applications on the student loan portal for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Director of Strategic Communications, NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, in a statement, yesterday, explained that the extension applies strictly to institutions that submitted official requests to NELFUND for the additional time.

Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Akintunde Sawyerr, in his reaction, reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to ensuring access to the student loan programme for all eligible Nigerian students.
He said: “NELFUND remains committed to ensuring that eligible students across participating institutions have the opportunity to access the student loan programme.”
He encouraged all eligible students in the affected institutions to take advantage of the extension and complete their applications via the official NELFUND portal.
He maintained that NELFUND remains committed to transparency, accountability and delivering sustainable student financing solutions that remove financial barriers to higher education in Nigeria.
