NECO raises alarm over fake online recruitment portal for examination supervisors

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has disassociated itself from an online recruitment portal for supervisors of its examinations, saying that the purported portal is fake.

The examination body, in a statement issued in Minna on Tuesday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mallam Azeez Sani, said the organisation is not embarking on analogue recruitment for supervisors for its examinations and therefore urged the public to disregard the “fake portal”.

According to Azeez, “NECO wishes to alert members of the public to the existence of fake online portals for the recruitment of examination supervisors.

“The fake portals had requested interested members of the public to log on with the details of their academic credentials after making some payments.

“NECO wishes to inform the public that the Council does not request for any payment from teachers applying to serve as examination supervisors in the forthcoming 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal.”

Mallam Azeez noted that, in line with the recommendations of the Ministerial Committee on the Improvement of Quality of Examination in Nigeria and to strengthen the examination supervision mechanism, the examination body has transitioned from the analogue mode of recruiting supervisors and assistant supervisors to a fully electronic process.

He added in the statement that, consequent to that, “all qualified pensionable teachers on Grade Level 12 and above who are not less than 30 years of age and are interested in serving as supervisor in the 2026 SSCE Internal should apply on the NECO website: https://supervisor.neco.gov.ng.

“It should be noted that the supervisor recruitment on the NECO website is fully automated, and no third party is required.

“This new recruitment system will prevent fraud in the recruitment of supervisors, prevent examination malpractice and enhance fairness and credibility in the recruitment process.

The statement, however, informed the public that “no fewer than 22,000 supervisors will be recruited by the Council to ensure a seamless conduct of the 2026 SSCE Internal, which is scheduled to commence on 15th June, 2026.
