National Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has sought the support of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to deepen data protection policy in Nigeria.
The Commissioner/CEO of NDPC, Mr. Vincent O. Olatunji, in a courtesy visit to NAICOM in Abuja, urged the Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Olusegun Ayo Omosehin, to help in creating awareness on the data protection law and entrench data protection policy among its regulated entities, as one of the agencies newly created by the Federal Government.
In response, the CFI assured Mr. Olatunji and members of his team of NAICOM’s readiness to collaborate with NDPC towards the attainment of the mandates of the respective Agencies. He highlighted the key functions of NAICOM and areas of mutual benefits.
NAICOM boss advised NDPC to first take steps to create awareness and build capacity before full enforcement of the law on protection of data privacy in the country.
