NDLEA state commander found dead in Calabar hotel

The Cross River State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Morrison Ogbonna, has been found dead in a hotel room in Calabar.

The state commander, who took over from Rachael Umebuali a few weeks ago, died in an incident about which details remain sketchy.

The sad incident occurred in a hotel in the Esuk Utan area of Calabar, which is close to the Calabar Depot, on Thursday, September 18.

Officials of the state command have yet to formally announce the sad incident. A source in the Calabar office of the agency confirmed the incident and said a formal announcement will be made in due course.

When contacted, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Igris Ewa, said he was not around and could not provide details of the incident.
