The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a total of 64 bags of cannabis sativa concealed inside a cement-laden trailer.
A statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, disclosed that the consignment was intercepted following an intelligence-led operation.
Sadiq, an Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics, said the consignment was concealed inside a Dangote Cement truck, adding that the vehicle departed Obajana, Kogi State, and was heading to Mubi, Adamawa State, when it was stopped along the Zaria–Kano road.

The driver of the trailer, he explained, has since been arrested and is currently in NDLEA custody pending further investigation, the statement said.
The state commander of NDLEA, D.Y. Lawal, noted that, “This seizure is the result of meticulous intelligence work and the dedication of our officers. The drugs were concealed within legitimate cargo and are believed to have been intended for distribution in Kano ahead of the Ramadan period.”
He added that, “We will not allow drug traffickers to endanger the safety and spiritual wellbeing of our communities.”
He said that they would intensify patrols, reinforce checkpoints and sustain intelligence-driven operations across the state, adding that, “Investigation into the network behind this shipment is ongoing, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend all collaborators and facilitators. Those found culpable will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
