A 37 year old man, Ali Mohammed has been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA) for being in possession of 8000 bottles of Asuskura and 48 blocks of cannabis sativa.
The arrest was announced on Tuesday by the Public Relations Officer of the Agency in Kano, Sadiq Mohammed Maigatari
While acknowledging that Asuskura is a herbal mixture, suspected to contain dangerous drugs, he remarked that the suspect was nabbed around Gadar Tamburawa, Zaria – Kano Road, during a stop of a trailer conveying goods from Lagos en route to Maiduguri.
” The trailer was fully loaded with Tricycle (Keke Napep), and the exhibit was concealed between the Keke Napep units and beneath the trailer where a wooden cover had been constructed to hide the items” he disclosed.

“NDLEA operatives discovered the concealment through their diligence and commitment” he added..
According to him All exhibits and the suspect are now in NDLEA custody pending further investigation and laboratory analysis to confirm the nature of the substances and determine the full scope of the operation.

“The NDLEA urges the public to remain vigilant and to report suspicious consignments or activity to the nearest NDLEA office or other law enforcement agency”.
