Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi has resumed training with his team just days after the heartbreaking death of his father. Sunday Ndidi, a retired Nigerian military officer, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Umunede, Delta State, and subsequently passed away in a nearby hospital.
The 29-year-old Beşiktaş midfielder, fresh off winning a bronze medal at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, has been supported by tributes from his club Leicester City, Nigeria’s president, and fans from around the world. In recognition of his loss, Beşiktaş granted Ndidi compassionate leave, showcasing the solidarity of the football community during this challenging time.
On Wednesday, Ndidi participated in a training session as his Turkish club gears up for the Super Lig home match against Tümosan Konyaspor on Saturday. The intense session at the BJK Nevzat Demir Facilities was closed to the media and lasted about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Led by head coach Sergen Yalçın, the training focused on fitness and tactical drills, starting with warm-up runs and a 5-on-2 ball possession exercise, culminating in a series of tactical strategies. Ndidi is clearly committed to his team and is ready to move forward.
