Besiktas experienced midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will captain the Super Eagles at this month’s AFCON in Morocco.

The defensive midfielder also led Nigeria at the recent CAF 2026 World Cup Playoffs in Morocco.

Injury ruled him out of last year’s delayed 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

Ndidi, 28, is the most senior Nigerian international in the absence of William Ekong, who will not feature at this year’s tournament as he fights for a new contract at his Saudi Arabian club.

Former U17 and U20 star Ndidi has 71 caps with the Super Eagles after he made his full international debut in August 2015.
