Ndidi is Africa’s second most expensive player

Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has been named as the second most expensive African player in Europe, this is even as he is ranked  among the top one hundred most valuable players in the top five leagues in Europe.

According to new information from football statisticians CIES Football Observatory, the Nigeria international is worth 77.4 million euros, or in other words they recommended that teams interested in his services will have to cough up that amount in order to sign him.

No other Nigerian player was included on the list, however, Mohamed Salah (€140.5), Sadio Mane (€66.3), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (€64.7m) are the Africans that featured.

The assessment takes into account the key criteria used by market actors such as age, position, contract duration, performance, international status, etc.

The most valuable in the world is Neymar (€213m) , who leads the way ahead of Lionel Messi (€202m).

Five players from the English Premier League are in the top ten: Harry Kane (2nd), Dele Alli (6th), Kevin de Bruyne (7th), Romelu Lukaku (8th) and Paul Pogba (10th). However, the highest estimated values for goalkeepers and defenders were recorded for two FC Barcelona’s players: Marc-André ter Stegen (€96m) and Samuel Umtiti (€101m). Paulo Dybala (€175m) heads the Serie A rankings, while Robert Lewandowski (€107m) has the greatest figure for German Bundesliga players.

Ndidi ranked 51st on the list, he joined Leicester for a fee of 17.6 million euros in January 2017.
