The United Kingdom (UK) chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has reaffirmed its commitment to the party’s expansion ahead of the 2027 general elections, as national leader, Seriake Dickson, announced plans to return to Britain with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
Dickson said he would return to the UK later in the year with Obi, Kwankwaso and other senior party officials for the formal launch of the NDC-UK chapter.
He added that the planned visit would further strengthen the party’s structures and engagement with Nigerians in the diaspora ahead of the elections.
Dickson made the disclosure in London during a meeting with the NDC-UK executive and representatives of Nigerians from across Great Britain and Ireland, where he also briefed members on developments within the party and preparations for the forthcoming elections.
The meeting, held at the London Park Lane Hilton Hotel on Saturday, followed Dickson’s visit to the Netherlands, where he inaugurated the NDC Netherlands chapter, and provided an opportunity for the party leadership and its UK supporters to discuss the NDC’s growth and electoral preparations.
Dickson expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and presidential ticket, while urging institutions and officials responsible for conducting the 2027 elections to uphold integrity, fairness and responsibility throughout the electoral process.

At the same meeting, the NDC-UK country chairman, Princewill Urum, thanked Dickson for his leadership and pledged the chapter’s continued support for the party’s objectives and programmes.
Urum said the UK chapter remained committed to contributing to the growth and development of the NDC as it prepares for the 2027 elections.
Furthermore, the leader of the Coalition for the Protection of Democracy (COPDEM), who attended the meeting, commended what he described as the direction and progress of the NDC.
He pledged that the organisation would deploy its available resources and personnel in support of initiatives aimed at promoting democratic participation and a credible electoral process in Nigeria.
The meeting was attended by members of the NDC-UK executive and representatives of the Nigerian community from across Great Britain and Ireland.
Participants subsequently expressed renewed commitment to expanding the party’s presence in the diaspora and supporting its forthcoming electoral activities.
